ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, NOVEMBER 2001

The Centre's Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 6th November at the Queens Oak in Finchampstead near Wokingham and was attended by a familiar solid core of 'regulars', though we were particularly pleased to welcome one or two new members to the meeting. The formal business for the evening was completed without drama and I am pleased to report that we now have a new committee for 2001/2, though it looks suspiciously like last years! The new committee list is given at the end of this newsletter. Special thanks are due to all those who came along and particularly to those who agreed to serve for another term. Nevertheless, we have regrettably lost a few familiar names this year. Graham Spratt, our competition secretary, sold his racing Healey years ago and has now retired from the club. Tim Kirby, who looked after our interface with RevCounter and contributed greatly to Healey Day this year, has found that he lives too far away to allow him to attend committee meetings on a regular basis, and both Keith White and Rob Fenton have had to give way to other pressures on their free time. Finally, Wally Hill has moved out of the Thames Valley area, though we're assured that this wasn't just to avoid the prospect of another year in office! Sincere thanks are due to all these people for their service to the club.

On the financial front, the Thames Valley accounts remain healthy, thanks to prudent control of expenditure and also to the small profit accruing from the Healey Day event.

Membership continues to increase gradually and we are currently on course to exceed 190 members by the end of March next year. The records show that around 20 members fail to renew each year, but that we manage to recruit new members at about the same rate. The publicity generated by next year's 50th Anniversary event will hopefully produce a surge of interest and thus of new members, so we hope to be over the 200 mark by this time next year.

Looking forward to next year, we are in the process of updating our website to present a new face to the outside world, and also to give us an alternative means of communicating with members. Our main events in 2002 will be the London Classic Motor Show at Alexandra Palace in March and the AH50 Celebrations in July/August. The committee will be meeting again in January to plan a more detailed calendar for the year, so if you have suggestions to make, please let us know.
