HELLO AGAIN
Firstly, apologies that we have not been able to produce an issue of 'Top Marque' for a considerable period; basically, we need a volunteer Newsletter Editor to join the Thames Valley committee to fulfil this role. Any takers?
Our committee also needs a Secretary to record the notes of our occasional committee meetings and to act as a general point of contact for Thames Valley. Again, we would be very pleased to hear from potential volunteers. ' worth noting that it would be entirely feasible to combine these two roles into a single position. The extent of involvement would likely run to attending up to six committee meetings per year (held on a mid-week evening) for the Secretary's role, plus the preparation of a bi-monthly centre news sheet (Top Marque) running to a couple of sides of A4. Plus you'd enjoy yourself and be a super-hero to boot. Interested? Call Nigel on 0118 958 9180, evenings & w/e.
EMAIL ADDRESSES - MORE PLEASE !
Email is a tremendously useful tool for the club - it allows us to communicate with you quickly and cheaply. For instance, the notice for our Sunday lunchtime gathering on 20th July was sent out electronically to all those members who have registered an email address with us. You can help us promote rapid communication by simply sending an email to our membership secretary, Nick Crocker, at nickcrocker@compuserve.com. Do it today! Please be assured that we will only send bona-fide club communications; we will not release your address to any other organisations. And you can always 'unsubscribe' by letting Nick know.
NATIONAL HEALEY DAY at PRESCOTT
National Healey Day is being held at Prescott Hillclimb on Sunday 27th July; details have been published in RevCounter. The venue is close to the village of Gotherington, several miles to the north of Cheltenham. It is not essential to pre-book in order to gain entry to Prescott, so if you've missed the pre-book deadline, please feel free to turn up on the day. The cost is £10 per car at the Main Gate. Prescott is very much a garden-party venue and a picnic is highly recommended in order to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historic location. The hillclimb course will be in use by the club throughout the day (it may be possible to 'buy' a run if space permits) and the national Concours d'Elegance competition will be held under the expert eye of Derek Mayor. There is also the Bugatti museum to visit. Thanks are due to South West Centre who have borne all the organisation this year and have made great efforts to organise an enjoyable day for all participants, so we hope to see you there!
THE THREE COUNTIES CAR AND MOTORBIKE TREASURE HUNT (Childrens Society)
Journey through Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire visiting check points along the way. Your challenge will be to visit the correct number of check points, answering a question at each and then meet at the finish to receive your Finisher's Award! The challenge is based on navigational skill and clue-solving - it's not a race. For more information and a registration form call Beth on 01793 611250 or e-mail beth.read@childrenssociety.org.uk. Hurry, closing date 25 July.
